I am a multidisciplinary artist and illustrator who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Arts in Drawing from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. My educational background provides me with a unique perspective that I enjoy bringing into my artwork and creative projects.

 

As a multidisciplinary artist, I possess a proficient grasp of utilizing fine art to convey nuanced concepts in the realms of biological, conservational, and zoological sciences. Additionally, I have experience in field biology and lab work, as well as designing educational art-based projects for individuals of all ages and learning types!

Academic Experience

Distinguished by the University of North Carolina at Asheville (UNCA) as a Community Engaged Scholar in the fall of 2023. The research paper was published in the UNCA Community Engaged Scholar Journal. Presented project poster and results at the UNCA Fall 2023 Undergraduate Research Symposium. Created an interactive permanent art display for enduring use by the Natural Enemy and Management Application Lab at UNCA during future insect-related community engagement events such as, “All About Bugs!”. Illustrated and manufactured two portable 4ft x 5ft participatory photo stand-ins with detachable support stands with a budget of $500. September- December 2023

Assisted with various NEMA Lab projects and research exploring how nematodes, insects and other soil invertebrates interact with their environment and how this information could be used to promote sustainable agriculture practices. Focused on organizing, planning and preparing activities and artworks in order to host community events with K-8 students and assisted with various student’s research projects in the lab ( Identification, quantitative analysis, recording data, subject and sample collection, etc) November 2022- Current

Organized and facilitated the planning of multiple Entomology themed, education-based, community events throughout three semesters for K-8 students at UNCA campus in Zeis Hall, the Asheville Botanical Gardens and the NC Arboretum for up to 200+ students at a time. Curated and crafted multiple insect themed visual art and interactive projects/activities created specifically for use by NEMA during these two hour events. January 2022- January 2024

Displayed four original multimedia artworks in the senior BA gallery exhibition at UNCA in December, 2023. Four original artworks were on public display for two weeks
